Level up with an industry relevant online course for as little as $25 per week
You’ll first learn about plant identification; I’m sure you’ll agree that identifying plants and their requirements is an essential skill for any gardener, so you’ll learn how to distinguish plants by their family, genus and species and what plants will work well together based on their nutrient requirements.
After you are confident with planting, you’ll learn to maintain your garden to keep it happy. This module covers everything from water management to Plant nutrition, fertilising, Garden maintenance and how to notice nutrient deficiencies, like when succulents grow flowers when they have soil problems.
Next, you’ll learn about the common root, leaf, and stem issues that commonly occur with plants, different diseases and invasive species like mushrooms and aphids, and how to mitigate damage or prevent these issues in the first place with natural and non-natural methods.
This resource management module is all about efficiency. You’ll learn about the human, physical and natural resources present in horticulture. This starts with managing other gardeners and your work tasks. After that, you’ll learn how to determine the correct herbicides or pesticides for your garden. Finally, you’ll know how all of this comes together and how to successfully start or run a horticulture business!
